The only problem I see with an Article Five Convention is that the States may wait too long (or already have) before they realize that there is no other solution. As immigration and entitlements turn states blue the enthusiasm for restoration of a declining republic will be abandoned by a people who never knew the values guaranteed by Constitutional Founding Principles.

SJS has been here long before you decided to show up and show your insecurities. Keep it up, though, it’s nice letting everyone see how shrill and discourteous you are, Norm.
]]>Wow, Jen. You can’t seem to get much right. Talk about insulting! I read the unidentified person’s (SJS come out of the shadows, talk about cowardly, lol) comment on its own blog. He/she/it self described as no special intellect, uneducated, etc. Regretfully, I had no basis to disagree but suggested a way to better understand the dilemma. Congress can be controlled, if we will. A circular firing squad will not win the day or make the essential changes. Neither will additional amendments or a COS ConCon. The Constitution did come out of a meeting calling for amendments. It went roque, some states left, and they not only substituted a new Constitution they changes the ratification requirements. That example makes it clear. Once called, a ConCon will do its own thing. You can’t count on any of our rights surviving, and you cannot count on the requirement of 38 states ratifying. While the Constitution seems to be devinely inspired (according to Madison, Franklin and Adams) and has served us pretty well for 230 years, it can be amended through a proven process, without risking everything. It is humorous you question my education and courage without knowing about either. And no, I never said I refused to get on stage with Reagan for any reason. Certainly not because I feared a primary. More made up stuff, like COS. The ONLY way we get better/less government is by working together to change public knowledge and demands – and politicians.
