Martin does not like our Constitution any more than Ruth Bader Ginsberg or Barack Obama does. Unlike the Bill of Rights the Founders were smart enough to see the value of Article Five and included the language even before they ratified the First Amendment. The Amendment Process was never designed to replace our Constitution, in part or in whole, as was done with the 16th Amendment. It was designed to reinforce it and despite the twenty-seven Amendments that have already been passed the concepts that the Founders sought to preserve and guarantee would endure for posterity have been eroded. What happened to the separation of powers? What happened to federalism? What happened to individual liberty? The states want and need their sovereignty restored. Even blue states are finding out that elections have consequences that they don’t like. And we, as individuals, want our economic liberty restored and that goes to the heart of the authoritarian leviathan which DC has become and the public debt it has created in the process of centralizing power. Without an Article Five Convention there is no way to restore what we have allowed to be confiscated and used against us.

The only problem I see with an Article Five Convention is that the States may wait too long (or already have) before they realize that there is no other solution. As immigration and entitlements turn states blue the enthusiasm for restoration of a declining republic will be abandoned by a people who never knew the values guaranteed by Constitutional Founding Principles.

Comment on It used to be that the Campaign for Liberty was pro-Constitution, not propagandists against it. by Tippecanoe /used-campaign-liberty-pro-constitution-not-propagandists#comment-5894 Sat, 20 Jan 2018 05:22:00 +0000 http://www.jenkuznicki.com/?p=9489#comment-5894 I fully agree Jen, This is a travesty and rather disappointing that a supposedly pro-liberty guy is not that at all.

Comment on The real creep here, is the creep of federal power over the states… by task /real-creep-creep-federal-power-states#comment-5879 Thu, 30 Nov 2017 12:42:00 +0000 /?p=9671#comment-5879 It seems to me that either Moore or Jones will be elected as a Senator from Alabama. Roy Moore may have done some despicable things 38 years ago. Then again he may not have. But one thing is certain. Mr. Jones is a far left candidate who does not appear to be lying about his position on abortion. He considers murder secondary to a woman’s right to choose what she wishes to do with her body even if that includes aborting her offspring after 5 months of gestation. If Jones can justify the killing of untold innocents then why would anyone not understand why Moore is the only available choice? It come down to how many future women Moore might molest as opposed to how many future women Jones would allow to be killed? There is no hard evidence that Moore did what he is accused of doing 38 years ago and what is especially important is that nothing similar appears to have transpired since then. On the other hand Jone’s position on a women’s right to destroy her unborn is clear. If he gets the opportunity he will remove as many obstacles as he possibly can. Therefore the choice is one of life over death.

Comment on Disappointing: Michigan Conservative Union working with MI House Dems to kill Article V COS proposal by Jen Kuznicki /disappointing-michigan-conservative-union-working-mi-house-dems-kill-article-v-cos-proposal#comment-5869 Thu, 16 Nov 2017 02:59:00 +0000 /?p=9499#comment-5869 In reply to sjh1603.

SJS has been here long before you decided to show up and show your insecurities. Keep it up, though, it’s nice letting everyone see how shrill and discourteous you are, Norm.

Wow, Jen. You can’t seem to get much right. Talk about insulting! I read the unidentified person’s (SJS come out of the shadows, talk about cowardly, lol) comment on its own blog. He/she/it self described as no special intellect, uneducated, etc. Regretfully, I had no basis to disagree but suggested a way to better understand the dilemma. Congress can be controlled, if we will. A circular firing squad will not win the day or make the essential changes. Neither will additional amendments or a COS ConCon. The Constitution did come out of a meeting calling for amendments. It went roque, some states left, and they not only substituted a new Constitution they changes the ratification requirements. That example makes it clear. Once called, a ConCon will do its own thing. You can’t count on any of our rights surviving, and you cannot count on the requirement of 38 states ratifying. While the Constitution seems to be devinely inspired (according to Madison, Franklin and Adams) and has served us pretty well for 230 years, it can be amended through a proven process, without risking everything. It is humorous you question my education and courage without knowing about either. And no, I never said I refused to get on stage with Reagan for any reason. Certainly not because I feared a primary. More made up stuff, like COS. The ONLY way we get better/less government is by working together to change public knowledge and demands – and politicians.
